On December 30th, the Publicity Department of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chongqing Federation of Social Sciences announced the second batch of new think tanks in Chongqing, including 18 in total. Our university's "Belt and Road" Intellectual Property and Innovation Development Research Institute successfully made it into the list of key think tanks, resulting in a breakthrough for the university at the municipal level.
The "Belt and Road" Intellectual Property and Innovation Development Research Institute was established in March 2017, jointly built by the University, the Chongqing Intellectual Property Bureau, and Queen Mary University of London. Since its establishment, the institute has focused on research in areas such as the theoretical system of intellectual property rights, international comparisons with insights into intellectual property laws and policies, and international scientific and technological innovation cooperation along with the transfer and transformation of intellectual property rights. It has played a significant role in providing decision-making consultation for party committees and in aiding high-quality development for industries and enterprises.
In recent years, the university has attached great importance to the creation of think tanks, implementing a special plan for the construction of a think tank matrix, and has produced a batch of high-quality think tanks. In the future, the focus will be on major theoretical and practical issues of Chinese modernization, strengthening the construction of think tanks, establishing consultative research projects, cultivating university-level think tanks, producing special reports, enriching the consultative expert database, and holding think tank salons and lectures. These measures aim to build platforms, unblock channels, improve the quality of think tank results, continuously enhance decision-making consultation capabilities, and play a foundational role as a "Brain Trust" in striving to write the Chongqing chapter of Chinese modernization.
