In September 1940

it was primarily established as the 11th School of Industry and Technology and known as “ShiJiGongXue” .

In April 1950

it was renamed as Vocational School of Industry of the 21st Factory, which was renamed several times later.

In April 1965

it was promoted into Chongqing Industrial Institute.

In 1999

it was renamed as Chongqing Institute of Technology.

In March 2009

approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed as Chongqing University of Technology.
